Gay_PrideTelegraph: A grandmother investigated by police for ‘hate crime’ after writing a letter to her council objecting to a gay pride march is considering suing the authorities.

Pauline Howe, 67, a committed Christian, was questioned by two police officers after she wrote a letter to Norwich City Council about its decision to allow the march.

She wrote: «It is shameful that this small, but vociferous lobby should be allowed such a display unwarranted by the minimal number of homosexuals.»

She described homosexuals as «sodomites» and said «their perverted sexual practices» were responsible for spreading sexually transmitted diseases and «the downfall of every empire».

Bridget Buttinger, the council’s deputy chief executive, wrote back warning she could face criminal charges.

She wrote: «The content of your letter has been assessed as potentially being hate related because of the views you expressed towards people of a certain sexual orientation.»

Mrs Howe’s details were passed to Norfolk Constabulary, which told her that her views were regarded as a hate incident. However, after the interview officers decided no crime had been committed.
